GCSE Results 2017
Following the record breaking successes of last week’s sixth form results that place the school in the top 10% of schools nationally for student achievement with 96% of all students achieving at least one grade or equivalent at A*-B and 57% of all entries at A and A* or equivalent, Archbishop Holgate’s students are once again celebrating results that exceed the expected performance of the top 25% of similar schools nationally. Headteacher Andrew Daly says “Building on our excellent Sixth Form results last week I am delighted to say that our Year 11 students have also performed exceptionally well with 89% of students achieving a 4+ in English (Grade 4 is the new grade ‘C’), 77% of students achieving a 4+ in Maths and 74% of students achieving a 4+ in both English and Maths, which they should be extremely proud of. We also look forward to the Government releasing the new Progress 8 score for this cohort which should be extremely impressive. I would like to thank all our staff, our students and their parents for their hard work and commitment to the school, which has rightly been rewarded with excellent grades for themselves but also record results for the school.”
Alexis Green-Harding Deputy Head says “These results are a testament to all the hard work and dedication of both Staff and students. As the government raises the bar on GCSE standards it is really pleasing to see our students holding their own once again.”
Miss Francesca De Lashley, Director of Sixth Form says “With our GCSE students now enjoying the outcome of all of their hard work and commitment, the majority will be looking forward to starting on their A level or Level 3 Vocational courses shortly. We are very excited and privileged to be welcoming so many aspirational and motivated students into our Outstanding Sixth Form. We look forward to supporting them in the next steps of their academic career. If you are interested in joining our Sixth Form we have limited places available for September and any students wishing to join our Outstanding Sixth form are strongly advised to contact us today by phoning 01904 411341, or emailing email@example.com. Mrs Avey Head of Year 11 said “I am absolutely delighted with the results and they are a true reflection of the hard work, dedication and positive work ethic which the Year 11 students have shown throughout the last year. As well as outstanding results they have contributed to the wider school through charity fundraising, commitments to school sports teams, drama productions, volunteering within the school community and organised a fabulous celebratory PROM. I look forward to seeing many of them in our Sixth Form, and for those who are choosing alternative pathways, I wish them all the best and cannot understate how very proud I am of each and everyone of my Year 11’s”
Mr. Daly, Head Teacher said “I would like to congratulate our students on their achievements this morning and look forward to welcoming the vast majority back to continue their studies at our Sixth Form. For the staff it is a great privilege to be part of an outstanding school and to know we’ve made a real difference in the lives of these young people. On a day like this academic results are important, but we believe that our students leave Archbishop Holgate’s with much more. Underpinned by our commitment to ‘Values, Care and Achievement’ our students are well rounded young people ready to make positive contributions to the communities they serve and to have a rich and fulfilling life in the world beyond school. We wish all our student the best of luck for the future.
